1. Getting Started

Try before you sign up: Labeebee offers 5 demo stories you can play immediately without creating an account. Demo stories showcase our professional narration, ambient visuals, and story quality with generic characters like 'Luna the Explorer' and 'Max the Brave'.

Download and Install

iOS (iPhone/iPad):

1. Open the App Store
2. Search for "Labeebee"
3. Tap "Get" to download
4. Wait for installation to complete
5. Tap app icon to launch

Android:

1. Open the Google Play Store
2. Search for "Labeebee"
3. Tap "Install"
4. Wait for installation to complete
5. Tap "Open" to launch

Create Your Account

You can sign up using email or existing accounts:

Option 1: Email Sign-Up

1. Open Labeebee app
2. Tap "Sign Up"
3. Enter your email address
4. Create a secure password (8+ characters)
5. Tap "Create Account"
6. Check email for verification link
7. Click verification link to activate account

Option 2: Apple Sign-In

1. Tap "Continue with Apple"
2. Authenticate with Face ID/Touch ID or Apple ID password
3. Choose "Share My Email" or "Hide My Email"
4. Tap "Continue"

Option 3: Google Sign-In

1. Tap "Continue with Google"
2. Select your Google account
3. Grant permissions
4. Tap "Continue"

2. Creating Child Profiles

Child profiles personalize stories for each child. You can create up to 1 profile (Free), 2 profiles (Standard), 4 profiles (Premium), or 20 profiles (Family Plan).

Create Your First Child Profile

1. After logging in, tap "Create Child Profile"
2. Nickname: Enter child's first name or nickname (not full legal name)
3. Age Bracket: Select age range:
   • 3-5 years (simple vocabulary, short stories)
   • 6-8 years (moderate complexity)
   • 9-10 years (advanced vocabulary)
   • 11-14 years (tween content - v2.0)
4. Gender (Optional): Select for pronoun selection in stories (he/him, she/her, they/them, or skip)
5. Avatar Emoji: Choose emoji character for profile picture
6. Tap "Next"

Set Up Story DNA Preferences

Story DNA is our personalization system. Rate reference stories to help us understand your child's preferences:

1. You'll see 5-7 reference stories with descriptions
2. For each story, select:
   • Love It ❤️: My child would love this type of story
   • Like It 👍: This is okay, but not my child's favorite
   • Not For Me 👎: Please avoid this type of story
3. Examples of story types:
   • Calm & Gentle: Peaceful stories about nature, friendship, quiet adventures
   • Magical Adventure: Wizards, fairies, enchanted forests, quests
   • Animal Stories: Talking animals, forest creatures, pets
   • Space & Science: Astronauts, planets, robots, exploration
   • Everyday Heroes: Relatable stories about school, family, kindness
4. Tap "Finish" to complete profile setup

Cultural Preferences (Optional)

Customize character appearance for diverse representation:

• Skin Tone: Choose skin tone for story characters
• Family Structure: Single parent, two parents, grandparents, etc.
• Cultural Background: Incorporate cultural elements into stories (v1.1)

Manage Existing Profiles

1. Settings → Child Profiles
2. Tap profile to view/edit
3. Edit Details: Update nickname, age bracket, avatar
4. Reset Preferences: Clear Story DNA and start fresh
5. Delete Profile: Permanently remove child profile (requires parent gate)

3. Creating Characters

Custom characters appear in your child's personalized stories. Create family members, pets, friends, or imaginary companions.

Create a New Character

1. Select child profile
2. Tap "Characters" tab
3. Tap "+ Create Character" button
4. Fill in character details:
   • Name: Character's name (e.g., "Grandma Rose," "Buddy the Dog")
   • Type: Person, Animal, Magical Creature, Robot, Other
   • Role:
     • Main Character (child as protagonist)
     • Sibling
     • Parent
     • Friend
     • Pet
     • Companion (imaginary friend, guide)
   • Gender (Optional): He/him, She/her, They/them
   • Traits: Kind, brave, curious, funny, wise, adventurous, calm
   • Appearance (Optional): Hair color, eye color, distinctive features
5. Tap "Save Character"

Character Examples

Manage Characters

• Edit: Tap character → Edit → Update details → Save
• Delete: Tap character → Delete → Confirm (requires parent gate)
• Activate/Deactivate: Toggle characters on/off for story generation without deleting

4. Generating Stories

Create a New Story

1. Select child profile from home screen
2. Tap "Create Story" button
3. Pre-Story Questions: Quick questions to customize tonight's story:
   • "What kind of adventure?" (e.g., forest, ocean, space)
   • "Who should join?" (select characters)
   • "How are you feeling?" (e.g., excited, calm, curious)
4. Story Length:
   • 10 minutes (~800-1,000 words) - Quick bedtime
   • 20 minutes (~1,600-2,000 words) - Longer experience
5. Theme Selection:
   • Lucky Dip 🎲: Random theme based on Story DNA
   • Choose Theme: Adventure, Calm & Gentle, Magical, Animals, Space, Everyday Heroes
6. Tap "Generate Story"
7. Wait 2-5 minutes (progress bar shows status):
   • Step 1: Writing story (30-90 seconds)
   • Step 2: Creating narration (1-3 minutes)

Multi-Chapter Stories

Available for Premium and Family subscribers

• Starting a series: Select "Adventure Series" duration (20-30 min) when creating a new story
• Chapter generation: Chapters are generated on-demand as your child completes each one (3-7 chapters total)
• "Previously on..." recaps: Each chapter begins with a brief recap of previous events to maintain continuity
• Chapter navigation: Tap "Continue Series" from Home screen or Story Library to resume where you left off
• Incomplete series: If subscription lapses, incomplete series remain accessible but new chapters won't generate

Story Features

Interactive Story Choices (Standard/Premium/Family):

• Mid-story decision points (1-2 per story)
• Tap choice to continue story in that direction
• Choices affect story outcome and ending
• Example: "Should they explore the cave or climb the mountain?"

Narrator Voice Selection:

• Free tier: 5 basic voices
• Standard/Premium/Family: 50+ professional voices with diverse ages, genders, and accents
• Different personalities (warm, cheerful, soothing, adventurous, British, Australian)
• Preview voices before selecting

Story Structure Types:

Labeebee uses sleep science-informed structures to help children transition to sleep:

• Wind-Down Journey: Gradually calming adventure that ends peacefully
• Repetitive Pattern: Soothing repeated elements (e.g., visiting different friends)
• Problem & Resolution: Simple challenge solved through kindness or cleverness
• Exploration & Return: Discovering new places then safely returning home

5. Story Playback

Play a Story

1. Go to child's Story Library
2. Tap story to open
3. Tap Play button

Audio Controls

• Play/Pause: Tap center button
• Skip Forward: Tap right arrow (10 seconds)
• Skip Backward: Tap left arrow (10 seconds)
• Seek: Drag progress bar to specific timestamp
• Volume: Use device volume buttons

Karaoke Word Highlighting

Premium and Family subscribers only

Follow along with word-level highlighting:

• Words highlight as narrator speaks them
• Great for early readers (ages 6-10)
• Toggle on/off: Settings → Karaoke Mode

Ambient Visual Themes

Choose background animation to enhance bedtime experience:

• Space: Twinkling stars, planets, gentle nebula clouds
• Ocean: Underwater bubbles, swimming fish, coral reefs
• Forest: Fireflies, falling leaves, woodland creatures
• Fantasy: Magical sparkles, floating lanterns, enchanted stars
• Calm: Abstract shapes, soft gradients, peaceful motion

Tap theme icon during playback to change.

Downloading for Offline Playback

Premium and Family subscribers only

• Automatic caching: Stories are automatically cached when played for offline access
• Manual download: Tap the download icon on any story in your Library to save for offline
• Storage management: View and clear cached stories via Settings → Clear Cache
• Offline playback: Downloaded stories play normally even without internet connection

Resume Playback

• Automatically saves progress when paused or interrupted
• Resume from last position when reopening story
• Or start from beginning by tapping "Restart"

Rate Stories

Help improve Story DNA by rating stories:

1. After story ends (or tap star icon)
2. Select 1-5 stars
3. Optional: Add note (e.g., "Too scary" or "Loved the dragon!")
4. Tap "Submit"

Ratings influence future story recommendations.

6. Managing Subscriptions

Subscription Tiers

Voice Cloning (Premium/Family)

Now Available - Not a future feature

• Record your voice: Settings → Voices → Create Voice Clone
• Recording process: Read a provided script (5-10 minutes) using your device microphone
• Family invitations: Invite grandparents or other family members to record their voices via secure web portal (no app download needed)
• Processing time: Voice clones are ready within 24-48 hours
• Usage: Select your custom voice clone from the voice selector when creating stories
• Deletion: Delete voice clones anytime via Settings → Voices → Delete Voice Clone

7-Day Free Trial: Full Premium access when you create your first child profile. Optional 7-day extension available for low-engagement users.

Upgrade to Premium

1. Settings → Subscription
2. Tap "Upgrade to Standard," "Upgrade to Premium," or "Upgrade to Family"
3. Select Monthly or Annual
4. Complete payment through App Store/Play Store
5. Premium access activates immediately

Cancel Subscription

iOS:

1. iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
2. Select Labeebee
3. Tap "Cancel Subscription"

Android:

1. Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions
2. Select Labeebee
3. Tap "Cancel Subscription"

You retain premium access until end of billing period, then downgrade to free tier automatically.

Check Trial Status

• Settings → Subscription → Trial Status
• Shows days remaining in 7-day trial
• Notification when trial ends (24 hours before)

7. Troubleshooting

Story Generation Failed

Causes:

• Poor internet connection
• Service outage (rare)
• Free tier limit reached (2 stories/month)

Solutions:

1. Check Wi-Fi/cellular connection
2. Retry in 2-3 minutes
3. Check Settings → Subscription to verify tier
4. Contact support@labeebee.app if persists

Audio Won't Play

1. Check device volume (not muted)
2. Check Bluetooth connections (disconnect if issue persists)
3. Close and reopen app
4. Delete and re-download story (if offline)
5. Update app to latest version

App Crashes on Startup

1. Force close app and restart device
2. Update to latest app version (App Store/Play Store)
3. Clear app cache (Android: Settings → Apps → Labeebee → Clear Cache)
4. Reinstall app (iOS)
5. Contact support with device type and OS version

Forgot Password

1. Tap "Login" → "Forgot Password?"
2. Enter registered email
3. Check email for reset link (check spam)
4. Click link and create new password

Can't Restore Purchases

1. Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases
2. Sign in with same Apple ID/Google account used for purchase
3. If still issues, contact App Store/Play Store support

Multi-Chapter Story Issues

• Next chapter won't generate: Ensure you have Premium/Family subscription and active internet connection
• Lost series progress: Check Story Library → Series tab to resume incomplete series
• Recap doesn't match story: Clear app cache (Settings → Clear Cache) and try again

Voice Cloning Troubleshooting

• Voice clone not appearing: Processing takes 24-48 hours; check back later
• Poor voice quality: Re-record in a quiet environment with clear pronunciation
• Family invitation not received: Check spam folder; invitations expire after 90 days
• Recording fails: Grant microphone permissions in device settings

Demo Story Access

• Demo stories not loading: Check internet connection (demo stories require network access)
• Can't personalize demo stories: Demo stories use generic characters only; create account for personalized stories
